Amazon Web Services (AWS) registers office in Pakistan


In a latest development, Amazon has registered an office in Pakistan under the name Amazon Data Services Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and according to records of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Amazon’s Pakistan office will be led by Paul Andrew Macpherson. This was informed by Bilal Gilani, Executive Director Gallup Pakistan in a tweet.

Bilal I Gilani said in a tweet, “According to records of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Amazon’s Pakistan office will be led by Paul Andrew Macpherson, who will be the CEO.”

According to the LinkedIn profile of Paul Andrew Macpherson, he is Director Infrastructure Operations [Australia, Japan, South Korea] at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the last 7 months. Prior to this, he served as Director, Infrastructure Operations [Australia, Bahrain, India] and Senior Manager, Data Centre Operations APAC.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon, that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go basis, had officially entered Pakistan to lead the adoption of cloud computing. The company has been now looking for a Head of Public Policy in Pakistan and they have officially posted the advertisement on their LinkedIn account.
